COASTAL
I painted this after watching Amy standing in the water, completely still, facing the horizon as the sun lowered itself into the ocean. She wasn’t trying to hold the moment or make it last longer. She was simply inside it. The light wrapped around her shoulders, and the water carried the colors of the sky as if everything was happening for her and around her at the same time. There was a quiet strength in the way she stood there—comfortable, grounded, and fully present. She didn’t need anyone to tell her she belonged there. She already knew.
Amy was my inspiration, but this painting is about every girl who has ever stepped into the ocean and felt that same quiet confidence. That moment when the world slows down, and you realize you are exactly where you are meant to be. The water holds you, the light finds you, and nothing is asking anything from you. You are not performing, not proving, not becoming. You are simply existing, grateful and whole. This sunset does not belong to Amy alone. It belongs to anyone who has ever stood in the water and felt the calm certainty of being enough.

Artist Statement
I often say that we all carry a quiet child within us. We hold fragments of early memories, but rarely return to them. Over time, life asks us to grow stronger, more guarded, more defined, and in that process, we gently set that part of ourselves aside. I believe that revisiting those softer, sweeter spaces can be healing, not as nostalgia, but as a way of restoring balance to everything adulthood has required of us.
My paintings are not about childhood, but about the quiet part of us that still knows how to feel joy. I am drawn to work that is inward, reflective, and restorative guiding us to a conscious return to joy in simple things. The teddy bear becomes a quiet stand-in, disarming rather than childish, allowing me to explore vulnerability, freedom, and presence through simple, familiar moments.
Through this work, my goal is to connect with people through the activities that bring them joy, those small, meaningful experiences that stay with us. I will continue painting these teddy bears as they move through life, until they reflect the wishes, desires, and dreams of everyone who encounters them.
Wonder
Curious Crabs invites us into a quiet seaside moment where innocence meets discovery. This little bear, dressed for a sunny day at the shore, pauses to observe two tiny crabs with gentle fascination instead of fear — a reminder that curiosity is one of life’s sweetest teachers. I paint teddy bears because they embody safety, tenderness, and the freedom to explore the world with open eyes and a soft heart. Through this scene, I hope to spark that same playful wonder, reminding us that even the smallest encounters can become unforgettable memories when approached with kindness and childlike awe.
